sunny albrite couldn’t play the game
but wanted us to play her just the same
she wore her uniform just like a pro
except when she wore sandals in the snow.
sunny albrite didn’t play to loose
what tripped her up were those expensive shoes
for when it came to practicing her stuff
she worried that the leather would get scuffed
sunny albrite didn’t make the team
blamed it on the coach who was too mean
while her peers excelled at what they did
sunny drew her biddings like a kid.
so it’s said she popped her lace
ran and hid, God forbid we see her fall
or see her crawl into a shell
an empty cell and empty hell
sunny albrite couldn’t play the game
and missed the highs of winning when it came
sunny couldn’t focus on the prize
blinded by the shinning in her eyes.
for this she shunned her own identity
for this she called the game a mockery
for this she made excuses for herself
and hung her fancy dreams upon the shelf
so in stead she popped her lace
ran and hid, God forbid we see her fall
or see her crawl into a shell
an empty well, an empty hell
sunny albrite laid there chewing gum
dyeing to her favorite requiem
she had a funny way of keeping score
the scars upon herself accounting for
all the times she popped her lace
ran and hid, God forbid we see her fall
or see her crawl into a shell
and empty hell, an empty hell
