i was walking through a lazy field
of dry grass and thorns
i came up on a paper bag
her body old and torn
i bent down to ask her name
and would she be a friend
we had a lot to talk about
i ask where she’d been, and she said
hell, hello my friend
hello, hello my friend
my only friend
she told me of her future
she told me of her past
she told me of her lovers
and how they’d never last
she told me of her nightmares
of her hot fiery dreams
she told me her fear of plastic
and her drastic little schemes
we had a lot in common
for we both moved with the wind
we both knew how to fade with time
and time has made us thin, and she said
hello hello hello
my only friend
deep in conversation
so long since i’d been free
these man walked up in long white coats
and put their hands on me
and put me in their wagon
a wind came up out side
i turned and saw my paper friend
and sadly said goodbye, and she said
goodbye goodbye goodbye
until we meet again
