Seems to be much warmer in
The water after dark
Lifeguard left the tower
Several hours off the clock
Diamonds in the sky
Playing tricks upon the eye
As they gather shells and sea glass
And driftwood floating by
He took another sip of wine
And felt a bit unsure
She took another kiss as if
To manifest a cure
Carving symbols in the sand
Peace and Love and Freedom
Only to get washed away
As if they had no reason
The jealous tide was more than wild
And crept into the cove and took them by surprise
No one there to testify
Left us wishing we could keep our
Faith alive, faith alive
Spirts in the bottle
Slowly reappeared
Waves are now receding
It’s as everybody feared
Ocean jewels wallowing
Clinging in defeat
The lure of love and salty air
So sinister and sweet
Although there is no grave by which
To sit and ponder why
We have their shells and sea glass
And driftwood by and by
The jealous tide was more than wild
And crept into the cove and took them by surprise
No one there to testify
Left us wishing we could keep our
Faith alive, faith alive
